Team Structure:

The international business development and marketing team focuses on the pillars of client development; practice group and sector business development; and brand, marketing and communications.

The Role

This role will be focusing on supporting the Employment, Pensions and Private Wealth practice areas. You will be able to assume a large amount of autonomy as the primary point of contact for these practice groups, building relationships with the key stakeholders. Strategic support and guidance will be provided by the Corporate BD manager. You will also be asked by the BD managers to assist with BD initiatives and activities outside of these practice areas, where time allows.

Employment – You will primarily be supporting the team in London with links into the international team. You will join the partners fortnightly BD meeting where they actively discuss and look for BD ideas and thoughts on upcoming and future initiatives. The team’s areas of expertise includes civil litigation and team moves, employment tribunal litigation, financial services regulatory advice, remuneration code, sensitive internal investigations, restructurings and initial public offerings (IPOs), TUPE, transactional support, drafting contractual documentation, policies and remuneration schemes.

Pensions – You will be supporting one of the larger pension teams in the City, which provides market-leading expertise to sponsors and not just corporate transactional support. The team help trustee boards, employers, charities, institutions and public bodies to meet their pensions obligations. You will join the pensions regulatory strategic meetings giving you the opportunity to guide the partners on their BD strategy. You will also work with our award-winning pensions disputes team, which provides advice on contentious matters. Clients include the pension arrangements of global corporations, the corporations themselves and other institutions.

Private Wealth – You will be providing support to this highly successful and award-winning team which is of strategic importance to the firm as it sits within the firms’ newly established Private Capital and Funds area of focus. The team works with private individuals and institutions on all matters relating to trusts, from their establishment, to administration issues, taxation, commercial and litigation matters. This team has recently expanded with the addition of new partners Michael Rutili and Jonathan Conder to the team in London.

Main Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may vary depending on the sub practice area, however, general responsibilities will include:

  • Support the sector groups with ongoing BD profile raising activity on a day-to-day basis
  • Support the fee-earners in updating relevant marketing materials and actively maintain credentials logs. Periodically update new work on the website, hubs and ensure partner bio’s are kept updated
  • Responsible for managing the effective digital distribution of newsletters, podcasts, social media posts and other marketing content and work closely with the PR, brand and online marketing team to produce this content
  • Manage the full proposal lifecycle, which includes being responsible for pitches relevant to the areas above, manage/produce individual capability statements as well as input on pitch presentations
  • Manage the Legal 500 and Chambers submission process for agreed areas (and additional sector/practice awards) and work towards producing high quality submissions
  • Work closely with the BD manager to help partners to further develop profitable revenue growth on their key client relationships
  • Work with the events manager to produce and deliver outstanding client events (virtual or otherwise depending on restrictions) but also support the logistics and materials required for the many events we sponsor or host overseas
  • Liaise with the communications and PR team on internal news announcements and press releases to support the media plan for the different practice areas
  • Work on targeted client research/trends – distilling research reports so they focus on key areas of relevance and suggesting resulting BD opportunities to fee earners
  • Liaising with the BD assistant and EA’s on various tasks to help support you in achieving the above
