The Opportunity

The Regulatory Control Manager role sits as a key part of the Trading Centre leadership team where you will manage the Regions business against our control framework. This includes governance, conduct, customer outcomes and quality across both the Trading Centre & operational support and oversight for the Trading Centre underwriting teams.

The role will ensure the effective delivery of first line defence across all Regions products, identifying any gaps in controls and driving action plans to achieve a fully compliant environment at pace.

The successful candidate will be responsible for oversight & co-ordination of regulatory & conduct topics across the Regions business including providing an Operational lens on risk regulatory and control projects.

The Role

  • Identifying and evaluating all material risks in decision-making across the Trading Centre teams, considering the wider impact across the P&L and customer outcomes
  • Drive forward the continuous improvement of our control environment. Identifying and delivering more robust processes/ efficiencies/ customer outcomes
  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of the annual external audit plan sampling across the Trading Centre
  • Overall responsibility for Incident logging within Trading Centre & ensuring effective actions plans are in place. Oversight / monitoring/ action plan support for UK Specialty underwriting teams where appropriate.
  • Overall responsibility for Complaints logging within the Trading Centre & ensuring effective actions plans are in place. Oversight/ monitoring/ action plan support for Trading Centre underwriting teams where appropriate
  • Oversight of GIA audit actions for any Trading Centre GIA audit requirements
  • Raise awareness of the control environment through the delivery of good quality training sessions – annual refresh for complaints & Incidents
  • Responsible for operational delivery of regulatory change
  • Managing relationships across various stakeholders (Regions Leadership Team, CL Trading & Ops leadership, and other key stakeholders) to ensure involvement, consensus, and continuous engagement.
  • Driving customer focus and outcomes across Trading Centre. Understand how FCA Conduct Rules apply to you as an employee of RSA and specifically, how they apply to this role and understand RSA’s Conduct Framework, how it applies to this role, and the behaviours / actions that you need to demonstrate in consistently delivering good customer outcomes.

Experience and Knowledge Required

  • Strong leadership skills – experience in driving improvements in a fast paced/ technical environment
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Experience of understand risk profile and driving positive outcomes aligned to group/company policy
  • Experience of Continuous Improvement methodology
  • Ideally you will have in depth knowledge of the current processes that support the Commercial business/ RSAL
  • Proven track record of successful stakeholder management, with evidence of having worked in a fast-moving, results driven environment
  • Insurance qualifications an advantage, or good experience in the insurance industry Capabilities
  • Commercially astute with demonstrable track record of taking accountability for delivery
  • The ability to motivate others as well as influencing audiences outside of his/her direct control
  • Excellent skills in relationship and stakeholder management
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong understanding of, and ability to apply continuous improvement methodology and embedding change within a team/ business
  • Experience of driving high performance across multi-disciplined teams, and improving overall effectiveness This is a delivery focused role; it is likely you will be working on various topics at one time so excellent time management skills are essential.
