The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Grants Manager within our Fundraising Team. This is a permanent full time role, at 35 hours per week, based in London.

Starting salary at £36,724 rising to £40,755 plus £3285 London Weighting

This exciting role will strengthen our capabilities in England and Wales, help us build grants income from new and existing trust, Lottery and statutory sources, and manage the resulting grants.

What does the role involve?

  • Contribute to a range of funding applications to potential funders including 6-figure applications to the National Lottery Community Fund
  • Identify new funders ensure that all potential sources of income are explored
  • Take responsibility for the grant management of selected grants

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?

  • Thorough proven understanding of the principles of grants fundraising
  • Evidenced strong communication, interpersonal/relationship-building and negotiating skills
  • Significant experience of trusts, lottery and/ or statutory fundraising, including securing and managing 6-figure grants

Employment benefits

Pension (non-contributory)

The Foundation considers it important to encourage staff to save for their retirement and as such provides staff with an 8% contribution as part of auto-enrolment. After successful completion of the probationary period this increases to 10%, all non-contributory.

Employee Assistance Service

At times staff may face and need help with a variety of issues throughout their lives and as part of the commitment to staff members the Foundation provides an independent and confidential information, support and counselling telephone service. Support is available on a range of issues including legal, financial, emotional, health issues and work-related concerns. Free to contact, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 0800 030 5182.

Wellbeing Days

Staff may take up to 3 days per every leave year for their personal wellbeing and mental health needs. These days must be taken during the leave year and cannot be carried over.

Annual leave

Staff receive 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pro rata when part-time, rising to 26 days after 3 years’ service and 27 days after 5 years’ service. The additional annual leave is awarded on 1 April following the relevant work anniversary. The leave year runs from 1 April to 31 March.

Christmas leave

Staff receive an additional 3 days leave at Christmas when the office closes between Christmas Day and re-opens after New Year’s Day. This is in addition to the annual leave entitlement.

Life Assurance Scheme

Staff receive death in service life cover at four times their annual salary.

Flexible working

The right to request flexible working is available to all staff. There are a number of different flexible working arrangements available which can be arranged by mutual consent.

Season ticket loan

Interest free loans are available to purchase season tickets for the journey between home and work. Available after successful completion of probationary period.

Cycle to Work Scheme

The Cycle to Work scheme is a UK Government tax exemption initiative introduced to promote healthier journeys to work and to reduce environmental pollution. Staff will be able to apply for a loan to purchase a bicycle of a value of up to £1,111 tax free. Available after successful completion of probationary period.
