An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Retail Department as a Retail Operations Assistant Manager

Our main retail operation trades all year round – with additional in-Ground Shops operating throughout the summer months. All shops offer a wide range of sport and leisure clothing, replica playing kit, souvenir merchandise and gifts for everyone – purchases made as a memento of a great Lord’s experience

This position is primarily a shop floor-based role and an integral part of the retail operations team. You will be helping support and manage the in-Ground retail shops and stockroom functions to ensure efficiency and profitability. Occasional weekend working where, after a period of training, opportunities can become available to take on operational responsibilities

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Working closely with MCC’s Retail Operations Manager (ROP) and full-time Retail team, on Major Match Days (including on Test Matches, One Day Internationals etc.) and on non-Match Days, maximising sales by overseeing, and managing the day-to-day operation of one of MCC’s and Lord’s in Ground Shops or Pop-up Shops.

  • Experience of working in a mid/senior or management customer facing role, at an event, sport, or similar environment
  • Casual staff management including managing breaks
  • All Shop floor sales activities including overseeing cashing up, till operation etc.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service is always delivered by team and yourself
  • Ensuring Retail shop is sufficiently stocked with products and operational supplies – carrier bags, till receipts
  • Managing any I.T., or maintenance issues and report to the ROP or relevant MCC Department
  • Visual merchandising
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal, commercial, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines with minimum supervision
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Confident individual who is motivated and disciplined
  • Effective problem-solving skills
